On Monday, February 23, 2026, Naan, Joppe, and Nina, who are pursuing a Master's degree in Architecture at TU Delft, visited the Le Roy Garden in Heerenveen.
Louis Le Roy's ecocathedrals are a source of inspiration for the subject of their master's, namely Material Yards (also known as Material Gardens). These are places temporarily used to store used building materials before they are permanently processed elsewhere.
An ecocathedral can be seen as a kind of material garden, although there is no question of temporality: the stones are processed on site and remain there forever.
After visiting the Le Roy Garden, the students went to the ecocathedral in Mildam before traveling back to Delft by train.
Many photos were taken during the visit.
